Club América Announces Landmark Strategic Alliance with General Atlantic and Kraft Analytics Group

In a move set to redefine its future, Club América, Mexico’s most successful and popular football club, announced a landmark strategic alliance with global investment firm General Atlantic and data-driven sports consultancy Kraft Analytics Group (KAGR).

The partnership, hailed as a new chapter for the institution, establishes “Grupo Águilas” as a new entity that will own the club, the iconic Estadio Banorte (formerly Azteca), and its surrounding lands. The controlling shareholder, Ollamani (led by Emilio Azcárraga Jean), will retain a 51% controlling stake, while General Atlantic acquires a 49% interest, valuing the total enterprise at a staggering $490 million.

The primary goal is to “accelerate the next stage of growth and innovation.” This investment aims to turbocharge commercial operations, enhance the legendary fan experience for its massive base of over 45 million supporters, and leverage the global platform of the Estadio Banorte as the host venue for the 2026 FIFA World Cup opener.

A key component of the alliance is the strategic partnership with KAGR, the analytics arm of the Kraft Group, owners of the NFL’s New England Patriots. KAGR will provide its industry-leading data platform and strategic consulting to help América deepen fan engagement and optimize operations.

Despite the significant external investment, the club emphasized continuity. Emilio Azcárraga Jean will serve as the Executive Chairman of Grupo Águilas, ensuring the club’s leadership, direction, and identity “remain at home.”

The transaction’s closing is pending customary regulatory approvals, including clearance from Mexico’s Federal Economic Competition Commission (COFECE). Upon completion, Club América is poised to enter a new era of growth as a modern, globally competitive sports institution.
