Juan Carlos Osorio Expelled: Scandal and Sanction in the Leagues Cup
Colombian coach Juan Carlos Osorio is not having a good time in Mexican football. On July 27, during a match of his team, Xolos de Tijuana, in the Leagues Cup, Osorio had a heated confrontation with several referees, resulting in his expulsion.

Consequences of the Confrontation
The Leagues Cup organization announced that Juan Carlos Osorio received a strong sanction.
According to the official statement, “at the 13th minute of the match between LAFC and Club Tijuana, Tijuana’s Head Coach, Juan Carlos Osorio, received a red card for using offensive language and violent conduct towards the referees.”
Not only were the referees’ words considered, but the images captured of the incident were also used as evidence.
Imposed Sanction
Based on articles 4.2.C and 13.2.4 of the Leagues Cup 2024 Competition Regulations, the Disciplinary Committee decided to impose a four-match suspension and a fine on Osorio.
This sanction means Osorio will not be able to coach his team from the bench during the upcoming matches.
Next Match Without Osorio
Osorio’s team, Xolos de Tijuana, will play again on Saturday, August 3, at 9:00 p.m. Colombian time, against Whitecaps. For obvious reasons, Juan Carlos Osorio will be in the stands, beginning to serve the first of the four-match suspension imposed due to his behavior.
