Another managerial change at Old Trafford. Manchester United have announced the sacking of Ruben Amorim, who becomes the seventh manager to fail since the departure of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson, following a disastrous season.
The Ruben Amorim project at Manchester United has come to a costly and abrupt end. The club confirmed the Portuguese manager’s sacking this Monday, just 14 months after his signing—a decision that follows a draw against Leeds United which left the team 17 points off the top of the table.

The investment was substantial—around €10 million for his signing and nearly €200 million more on reinforcements in 2025—but the results never came. Amorim leaves behind a bitter legacy: a 15th-place finish in the Premier League in his first season (the worst in years), early exits from all competitions, and a failure to qualify for Europe.

His departure solidifies an alarming instability at Old Trafford. Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, seven permanent managers have been unable to reverse the decline of the once-mighty English giant. The new leadership, led by Omar Berrada, now faces the enormous challenge of finding the man who can finally lift this fallen giant.
