Cruz Azul defeats Vancouver and claims the Concachampions title
Cruz Azul showcased its power in the Concacaf Champions Cup final, crushing Vancouver Whitecaps 5-0 and securing its seventh tournament title. From the opening minutes, the Blues dictated the pace and left the Canadian team with no options.

Cementero goal fest
The match started with an early goal from Ignacio Rivero in the 8th minute, taking advantage of a defensive lapse to score with a precise left-footed finish after a pass from Lorenzo Faravelli. Faravelli himself extended the lead in the 28th minute with a powerful strike that beat Japanese goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka.
With no room for a response, Vancouver struggled against Cruz Azul’s relentless intensity. The Mexican side maintained its pressure and widened the lead with Ángel Sepúlveda’s brace—first in the 37th minute with a left-footed shot assisted by Rodolfo Rotondi, then in the 53rd minute with a flawless header from a cross by Carlos Rodríguez. To complete the spectacle, Matheusz Bogusz netted the 4-0 right before halftime, striking the ball off the post and into the net.

A historic victory for Cruz Azul
With this victory, Cruz Azul secures its seventh Concachampions title, tying América as the tournament’s most decorated club. Additionally, Mexico reaffirms its dominance in the region with 40 championships, surpassing countries like Costa Rica, the United States, and Honduras by a significant margin.
This triumph is not just another trophy for La Máquina Cementera—it’s a clear statement that Cruz Azul is ready to compete in the upcoming Club World Cup and continue expanding its legacy in international football.
